Three directors have recently obtained designation as Chartered Directors, having successfully completed the Institute of Directors in Ireland (IoD) Chartered Director Programme.
Successful candidates include Carol Bolger (pictured), Board Member, Health & Safety Authority & Coombe Women & Infant’s University Hospital, Padraig McLoughlin, CEO, McLoughlinsRS and Ger Penny, Non-Executive Director, Sisk Group.
Over 500 participants have undertaken the Chartered Director Programme to date, which is now in its sixth year in Ireland. Having obtained a Certificate and Diploma in Company Direction, each candidate went on to become a fully accredited Chartered Director.
Carol Bolger, Board Member, Health & Safety Authority & Coombe Women & Infant’s University Hospital.
Business Consultant, Carol Bolger, was appointed to the board of the Health & Safety Authority in January 2014 and chairs the Audit Committee. She is a board member of the Coombe Women & Infant’s University Hospital, where she chairs the Quality, Risk and Safety Committee, and is a member of the Audit Committee of the Department of Justice and Equality.
Carol has held senior leadership roles in Corporate and Business Banking in Ulster Bank, where she acted as Head of Business Management and Chief Operating Officer, and in Bank of Ireland, where she held senior positions across a range of business and relationship management roles. She is Fellow of the Institute of Banking, where she is also a Council member and chairs the Audit and Finance Committees. She was also recently appointed to an Advisory Board with Alternatives Elect, the new executive search division of the talent resourcing organisation, Alternatives Group.
A Qualified Financial Advisor, Carol holds a Diploma in Applied Finance, the Henley Diploma in Management and recently completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Strategy & Innovation, accredited by University College Cork. She is a Fellow of the Sales Institute of Ireland and a qualified Executive Coach.
Padraig McLoughlin, CEO, McLoughlinsRS
Padraig McLoughlin is CEO of McLoughlinsRS, a leading distributor to the hardware, gardening and homewares market. He has been instrumental in developing McLoughlinsRS from a traditional wholesaler, founded in 1958, into a contract manufacturer of its own brands, De Vielle and ProPlus.
The organisation, which is headquartered in Finglas, Dublin, and has offices in China, also distributes for leading brands such as GE lighting, Pyrex, Curver and HG.
Ger Penny, Non-Executive Director, Sisk Group
Ger Penny is a Non-Executive Director with the Sisk Group, where he also served as CFO from 2005 until 2013 and has played a key role in the development of the Group’s strategy and its decision to diversify into the healthcare sector in recent times. Prior to that, he held a number of senior positions with Diageo Plc in Ireland and the UK from 1994 to 2005, most recently as Finance Director for Baileys, the global drinks brand.
Ger trained with PwC, working in both Dublin and Hong Kong and is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland. Peony Management provide strategic, change consulting and financial advisory services to clients in the SME sector.
